LocalSend works across the whole device mix.

Install LocalSend on both devices, connect them to the same local Wi-Fi or phone hotspot, choose Send, select the files, and tap the receiving device. It supports Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux without an account or cloud upload.

Use Quick Share

  1. On the receiving Android, turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, unlock it, and open Quick Share receiving visibility.
  2. On the sending phone, open Files and locate the VillageServer file or folder.
  3. Press and hold the item, tap Share, then Quick Share.
  4. Choose the receiving phone. Confirm the device name or PIN on both screens.
  5. Accept the request. Open the received file from Downloads or the Quick Share folder.

iPhone → iPhone

Use AirDrop

  1. On both iPhones, turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and keep the devices nearby.
  2. Set the receiver’s AirDrop visibility to Contacts Only or Everyone for 10 Minutes.
  3. On the sending iPhone, open Files and touch and hold the resource.
  4. Tap Share, then AirDrop, and choose the receiving iPhone.
  5. Accept the transfer and confirm the file appears in Files or its matching app.

Cross-platform phones

iPhone ↔ Android

Move ordinary files in either direction
Recommended: LocalSendOffline after installation · no account · keeps original files
  1. Install before traveling.

    Install LocalSend on the iPhone and Android while internet access is available.

  2. Create one local network.

    Connect both phones to VillageServer Wi-Fi, another trusted Wi-Fi network, or one phone’s hotspot. The network does not need internet.

  3. Allow local access.

    Open LocalSend on both phones. On iPhone, allow Local Network access; on Android, approve nearby-device or file permissions when requested.

  4. Send from the phone holding the resource.

    Tap Send, choose Files, select the copied VillageServer resources, then choose the other phone’s LocalSend name.

  5. Accept and verify.

    Accept on the receiver. Open the Downloads folder, play or read one file, then send the larger batch.

No app available? Copy through an ExFAT USB drive or microSD reader that both phones can open. iPhone may require a compatible USB-C or Lightning adapter.

Setting up a brand-new phone? Android Switch and Apple Move to iOS are migration tools for initial setup—not the normal choice for sharing VillageServer files later.

Cable: Unlock Android, connect a data-capable USB cable, tap the USB notification, choose File transfer, and drag files into Download or Documents.

Wireless: Install Quick Share for Windows, choose the file, select the nearby Android, and accept on the phone.

Mac → Android

LocalSend or removable storage

Install LocalSend on both devices and use the same local network. If apps cannot be installed, copy files from the Mac to an ExFAT USB drive or microSD card, then connect that storage to Android.

Mac → iPhone

Finder, AirDrop, or LocalSend

Cable: Connect the iPhone, select it in Finder, open Files, and drag files into an app that supports File Sharing.

Wireless: Use AirDrop for Apple-to-Apple or LocalSend for the same workflow used by every platform.

Windows → iPhone

Apple Devices or LocalSend

Cable: Use Apple Devices for Windows and copy into an app that supports File Sharing.

Wireless: Install LocalSend on Windows and iPhone, place both on the same local network, then send and accept.

First copy

  1. Connect the correct reader.

    Use the phone’s card slot or a compatible microSD-to-USB adapter. Never force a card or connector.

  2. Open the labeled library.

    In Android Files or Apple Files, find the card under Storage or Locations and open START HERE.

  3. Copy—do not move—the files.

    Copy selected language folders into Downloads, Documents, or a clearly named VillageServer folder. Leave the master card unchanged.

  4. Test before removing the card.

    Open one copied file, safely eject the card, and open that file again with airplane mode on.

  5. Choose the onward route.

    Use Quick Share for Android, AirDrop for Apple, or LocalSend when the phones use different platforms.
